Alechinsky Pierre
Biography
Pierre Alechinsky is famous for his large canvasses: gestural, narrative, colourful, they hang in museums and collections around the world. But the artist also excels in the small format, the intimate object, the notebook addressed to a confidant, male of female. Taking a map, a menu, or an antique engraving as his starting point, he “redraws it” with his own scene, his landscape peopled with beings sprung spontaneously from his brush. These drawings were previously unpublished.
