Ollivier Bernard
Biography
Born in Normandy in 1937, he devoted his life to journalism (specifically to in-depth reporting on social issues). When retirement came, he moved back to his home region, but with frequent trips to the capital, where he is active in "Seuil", an organization that helps young delinquents... when he isn’t off on some wayward path himself. It was hiking that made him famous at over 60 years of age: as a writer-voyager admired by the media when his diaries of a long-distance walker were published: "The Long March" (Phébus, 2000), "To Samarqand" (Phébus, 2001) and "The Wind from the Steppe" (Phébus, 2003).
