A man, a Classics teacher, falls in love at first sight with a woman of whom he glimpses by the photocopier of a high school in Nantes, in the west of France. A stunning woman, whose legs look great in black Adidas leggings. The problem is that no sooner has the knock-out appeared than she disappears again, and the clues to find her are pretty slim. The plot would be straightforward enough if the teacher, despite being taken with “the three-stripe Woman,” as he thinks of her – whose name is actually Carole – weren’t also testing love with a Japanese woman, a fake diplomat’s wife, and above all, a masterpiece in the Nantes Museum of Fine Art, La Belle Mauve by Martial Raysse, from the Nouveaux Realists Group. Falling in love with three women at once can only be disconcerting, especially when one of them is a work of art. Yet the narrator eventually winds up making Carole his priority. Achieving his goals thanks to a blend of quick thinking and perseverance, he will realize that it can be harder than you’d think to forget a work of art dangling tantalizingly high on a museum wall… Teodoro Gilabert’s second novel intertwines humor and fantasy. Readers will recognize the hero of "Pages roses" (“Pink Pages”), a young teacher looking for love, as well as the charm of Nantes and its region…
