Gaston Mba, an African computer scientist, falls in love with Tamiko, a Japanese pianist. With his computer named Jerry, an autonomous and intelligent “super-machine”, he can penetrate the most inaccessible systems. Gaston has to foil the plans of a group of Moscow-based hackers: with ties to the former KGB, the hackers infiltrate the Council of Europe’s IT network to steal sugar-beet production data. Beetroot, the energy source of the future: the Russians are afraid that Europe starts producing bio-fuels. Gaston foils the hackers’ plans and destroys the Muscovite computers tied to the plot. But Russian spies are on his trail and manage to poison him with Polonium-210. With Gaston at death’s door; a desperate Tamiko flies off to Japan to end her life. On a sacred mountain, she realizes that she is carrying his child, and abandons her intention of killing herself. Then she finds out that Gaston has been saved.
