THE LIBELLA PUBLISHING GROUP began in the year 2000,
with the acquisition of BUCHET-CHASTEL PIERRE ZECH EDITEUR (since
re-christened META EDITIONS), which included several
different imprints:
BUCHET-CHASTEL (publisher of fiction and non-fiction,
founded in 1929),
LE TEMPS APPRIVOISE (arts and crafts). STUDIO SM, a record company specialized in sacred
music, had just joined the group. In August 2003, Editions PHEBUS (fiction)
became a part of LIBELLA, as did Editions MAREN
SELL (fiction),
in March 2004.
The group’s French headquarters are located at 7 rue des Canettes,
75006 Paris. It now comprises, in chronological order of joining
the group: NOIR SUR BLANC, BUCHET/CHASTEL, LE TEMPS APPRIVOISE, LE SENEVE,
LETHIELLEUX, STUDIO SM, PHEBUS and MAREN SELL.
The group’s distinguishing features are complete financial independence
and a broad range of editorial fields. Diverse publishers coexist, each
with their individual spirit and the specificity of their catalogues.
Only a limited number of services, such as finance, accounting, production
and logistics, are shared. In this way, French and foreign literature – in
every linguistic field – essays, non-fiction, illustrated books,
music, ecology, religious publications, arts and crafts and
recordings of sacred music are all covered.
The group is present at the European level, as its majority
shareholder is based in Switzerland. In addition, it also
includes Editions NOIR SUR BLANC in Lausanne, POLOGNE
OFICYNA LITERACKA NOIR SUR BLANC in Warsaw, and WYDAWNICTWO
LITERACKIE in Krakow.
We continue to be committed to quality publishing in a
long-term perspective that requires increased attention
to respect for universal cultural values.
